Applications through the online mode are invited from eligible candidates for engagement of contractual
Assistant Professor as academic arrangement up to ending December 2023 for teaching, research and allied academic activities in the following Centre:

Eligibility
Master‘s degree with 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non creamy
layer) or an equivalent grade in a point- scale wherever the grading system is followed in History / Political Science / International Relations/ Language/Literature or an equivalent degree in relevant /allied subjects. The candidate must have areas of research in Linguistics/ Sociology/Anthropology/Ethnography/Language/Literature.
AND
NET/SLET/SET or Ph.D
Note: NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET.
I. Emoluments:
For candidates having
1. PG : Rs. 45,000/- per month
2. NET/SLET/SET : Rs. 48,000/- per month
3. Ph. D. : Rs. 50,000/- per month
4. NET/SLET/SET and Ph.D. : Rs. 50,000/- per month
II. Leaves/Vacations:
As per University norms applicable to contractual employees.
III. How to Apply:
The eligible candidate shall apply online and download the filled application form. The hard copy of the form along with self-attested copies of all necessary documents, certificates, shall have to be
submitted in the office of concerned Dean of School on any working day by or before the last date for submission of hardcopies, failing which the online application form submitted by the candidates shall
not be considered.
IV. Selection process:
The selection of a candidate shall be based on academic merit calculated as per UGC regulations 2018 (Table:3. A) and interview in ratio of 50:50. In case, the number of applications is more, the interview shall precede by shortlisting which shall be done on the basis of academic merit calculated as above.
For one vacancy 20 candidates and for every subsequent vacancy 5 additional candidates shall be short listed for interview.

IUST-Awantipora Engagement of Contractual Assistant Professor | Important Notes:
1. The tenure of engagement shall be up to ending December 2023 or till the post is filled on permanent
basis whichever is earlier.
2. The applications shall have to be submitted through the University portal www.iust.ac.in under the
specified tab.
3. Candidates will have to produce original documents relating to their qualification, experience etc. at
the time of appearing in the interview.
4. No TA/DA shall be paid to candidates for appearing in the interview.
5. Only post qualification experience shall be considered.
6. Eligible candidates will be informed about the date and place of interview through University website
/ e- mail/ whichever suitable. However, University does not take any responsibility for non-receipt
or delayed receipt of the intimation by a candidate.
7. Candidates who have been awarded postgraduate/Ph. D degree from Foreign University should
enclose Equivalence Certificate” issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi
without which their candidature will not be considered, and application form will be rejected.
8. The Ph.D degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution with a ranking among top
500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following:
(i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)
(ii) the Times Higher Education (THE) or
(iii) the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai). (II)
9. All relevant information /updates shall be uploaded on University website www.iust.ac.in. The
candidates are advised to remain in touch with University website and notifying the same in
newspapers shall not be obligatory on University part.
10. The University reserves the right to alter/insert any corrections/additions in the advertisement/
website in the event of any typographical error etc. before the last date prescribed for the receipt of
applications, for which the candidates are advised to remain in touch with the official website:
www.iust.ac.in.
11. The University reserves the right to modify/ withdraw/ cancel any communication made to the
candidate(s) at any stage in the process of selection in case any inadvertent mistake is detected even
after the issue of appointment letter.
12. The University reserves the right to terminate the contract mid-way in view of unsatisfactory
performance of the candidate by giving one-month notice or one-month salary in lieu of notice.
13. The candidate who intends to resign shall have to submit one-month notice in advance or one-month salary in lieu of notice.
