NEPAL'S CABLE TV OPERATORS SWITCH SIGNALS OF INDIAN NEWS CHANNELS EXCEPT DOORDARSHAN
Why in news?
Nepal's Cable television providers have said that signals for Indian news channels, except Doordarshan, have been switched off in the country.
Highlights:
1. There is, however, no official order issued in this regard.
2. The move by Nepal's Multi-System Operators (MSO) comes hours after former Deputy Prime Minister and Spokesperson of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Narayan Kaji Shrestha said that the Indian media must stop the "baseless propaganda" against Nepal government and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
3. The move comes amid heightened tensions between India and Nepal after Kathmandu issued a new map incorporating some portions of Indian territories in May.

ASSAM CHANGES ORDINANCE ON LAND USE AFTER PROTESTS
Why in news?
The state cabinet had on June 29 passed an ordinance allowing setting up of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) industries without any prior permission for a period of three years and added that land for setting up industries would be “deemed converted”, after submission a self-declaration.
Highlights:
1. The move had, however, led to apprehensions that people from outside the state acquire agricultural land hurting the rights of indigenous people.
2. Industries minister Chandra Mohan Patowary said that chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal held a meeting to address the concerns of the indigenous people and discussed provisions of the “draft ordinance related to use of land”. “
3. It was unanimously decided that stringent measures and provisions should be made so that the right of the indigenous people are protected and kept unaffected.”
